Strawberry Season

Winter in Chiang Mai is not only considered to be the 'high season' for travelers, but also for strawberry lovers, as the fleshy red berries are widely available at markets throughout the city
People of all ages have for a long time enjoyed strawberries (fragaria) for their tempting sweet-sour taste. Rich in Vitamin C, Calcium and Potassium, the berries are yet low in calories, which makes them the ideal dessert and snack for many occasions, no matter if consumed fresh, frozen or dried, or in form of all kinds of strawberry-flavored delicacies like dairy products, smoothies, jam, sweets, wine and even coffee.
What may be less known is that, due to their content of malic acids, strawberries can also be used for cosmetic purposes, such as for skin treatments. For a rejuvenating facial scrub simply mix crushed strawberries with yoghurt and gently massage into the skin.
For those who like traveling as much as eating, consider a trip to Samoeng district, the main source of strawberries in Chiang Mai.
